A son is born

Thursday, October 25th, 2007

Sorry for the lack of updates lately. On October 15, my wife and I welcomed our second son into the world. Little Ronan Weidner was born at 6lbs, 6oz and 20 inches long. He was early by more than a month, and technically a preemie, but he’s doing very, very well.

So a new baby, combined with working on my short film, has kept me waaay too busy. Oh yeah, and my wife got me a Wii for my birthday on October 9th, so my free time (such as it is) goes toward playing the few games I have (Zelda: Twilight Princess and Super Paper Mario). Oh, and Guitar Hero 3 comes out on Sunday…need I say more?

Anyway, this was supposed to be about my son – I’ll post pics someday I’m sure…maybe after I graduate.

The 2007 Fall Showcase from Animation Mentor is out, and I made it into the reel! I can’t tell you how stoked I am – very exciting day for me today! Congratulations to everyone who had a shot accepted for the reel – I’m excited for each of you. The reel looks AMAZING!

Watch it after the jump.

argh!

Yes, I’m terrible at maintaining a blog. I know that, if you actually READ this, you know that…

And it’s only going to get worse for the next 3 months.

Class 6 starts this week. The last 3 months of the Animation Mentor program for me. Kinda hard to believe! Also, kind of a relief. I’ve loved every minute of this, but I’m ready to be done. It just takes a lot out of a person to keep up the high level of involvement in work, AM, family, etc. It hasn’t been easy, but it will have been worth it.

Anywho, things are gonna get crazy. I’ll be animating my short film – still without a title, by the way – and I’m a Peer Buddy at AM, which comes with an extra set of responsibilities. It’s cool though – I enjoy helping other students.
